FAQ

There are absolutely no financial obligations towards MecMap! Your registration and first 100 points is absolutely free of charge!

MecMap will not send you any bills to pay. You decide when you want to add credit points to your account and what you want to pay.

No! Because KISS!

  • Considering that MecMap grants at least 100 credit points upon registration, our customers are practically paying after receiving the service. Therefore it makes no sense to refound credit points.
  • Administration would become more complex = more expensive for you.
  • Under certain circomstances we would risk to end up in legal battles about the rimbursement (which would increase our administration expenses even more).

For these reasons, we recommend that you do not increase the balance of credit points unnecessarily. You can decide at any time how many points you want to buy.

Your customer data is not accessible or will only be passed on if the business partners contact you.

If the "Confidential private RfQ" option is selected, the data you uploaded will only be visible to the selected preferred suppliers.
For all other tendering variants, the data you uploaded (drawings, 3D models, etc.) can be viewed by anyone visiting MecMap. They do not even have to be logged in!

There are several strategies for this:

  • Modify the drawing header before uploading so that no conclusions can be drawn about your company! A "spy" would have to analyze hundreds of thousands of drawings and estimate whether a drawing was posted by your company - a hardly worthwhile job!
  • Identify the really important parts for your machine/construction and use the "Confidential private RfQ" option!
  • Identify capable suppliers by tendering a similarly demanding part and test their capabilities with a small order. Add your favorites to your supplier list and start a "Confidential private RfQ" with your key parts. Secure yourself with an NDA if required.

With us, the orderer pays, but just a minimal fee!

Our consideration is that the potential supplier has to carry out expensive preparation work to calculate and prepare his offer. He will be more willing to participate if no costs are involved. The resulting increased offering is after all to the advantage of the orderer!

The cost of an RfQ is composed of a fixed publication fee of 1 credit point (≙ 1 €) and a small variable sales fee, depending on the order size.

If an RfQ receives offers, but no order is placed, then the lowest offer will be used as the basis for settlement. This protects to a certain extent against abuse of our platform for pure benchmarking.

Incoterms 2020 defines the international obligations for the delivery of goods. The abbreviation DAP stands for "Delivered At Place", which means that the supplier has to bear all the delivery costs up to the agreed place of delivery (usually to the buyer's front door). The only exceptions are unloading charges at the destination (usually negligible for parts deliveries), import customs clearance and import taxation (including VAT). Depending on the tax approach, whether a domestic or a foreign supplier is chosen can therefore play a role.

MecMap recommends this delivery term so that the bidder/purchaser can compare prices on as equal a basis as possible, whether the parts supplier is producing around the corner or on the other side of the world.

Other delivery conditions can be offered or requested in the field "Additional Information". If you are interested in subtleties in the area of delivery conditions then please refer to the Internet.
Go to "Invite favourites" and enter the e-mail addresses of your suppliers. You can also click on parts that you have actively advertised. Each e-mail you enter will automatically receive a message with instructions and a link to the MecMap registration.

Otherwise, both have the same rights.
