Find parts - step by step
As better as size and type of the demanded parts fits to your potential machine as more efficient and costy can you offer the production of the parts.
You will find here a step-by-step description how to find the best fitting parts for your idle production machine on the MecMap platform.
Whether you are logged in or not, you can search for suitable parts. Visitors can submit an offer, but must log in to send the offer to MecMap.
Terminology:
- The Purchaser is the one that advertises a part that he needs manufactured and subsequently issues a purchase order.
- The Supplier is the one that issues a quotation, receives a purchase order, manufactures and ships the parts.
1 | Start with the MecMap Home-Page or select „Find parts“ in the header. | You can see the filter on the left side with the title „Part shape / Material / Main machining process / Tolerance request /…“ All criteria are set to "all" to start with, though all parts are listed in the main window. |

3 | If you would like to limit the materials for your desired list then klick on the material you would like to choose. | |
4 | You can add or deselect further material types with pressed Ctrl key | Right below the header in the left upper corner you can see permanently the number of parts which fit to your requirements. |
5 | Select further criteria in other boxes with the same process. | You are reminded that the number of hits changes with each criteria! |
6 | With "Part shape" you can choose if your part should have a cubic or a round shape. | Please consider that you don't have to fill in dimensions after selecting a shape. The system will list all parts which have the correct shape, independant of the size. If you don't write values into the dimension boxes the parts will be listed independant of the size, but only the selected shape. |
7 | Enter the maximum dimensions your machine can handle with. | Parts which are too big will be sorted out, the suiting parts will be listed according the best fitting size. |
8 | Click the button "Show hits" | All possible parts are listed, with the best fitting parts on the top. |
9 | When you are logged in you can store your active search criterias with the link "Store setted criterias in "stored search" | |
9.1 | Give the search criterias a suitable name. | Usually the part search is suitable for a certain machine or machine groupe. Therefore it would be reasonably when the part name shows the machine(s), e.g. "5 axis milling machine XYZ" |
9.2 | Fill in a value how long you would like to get informed by mail if there is a part which fits your search criterias. | You can fill in the value 0. In that case you won't receive any mail information. The search mask get stored anyway with the given name and it can be recalled again. A stored search can be called in by the button "Recall search profile". This means that you can very easyly look for occupation for a certain machine. |
9.3 | Close with "OK". | The search mask with your criterias have been stored. |
10 | Open the part description for a certain part by clicking on the part name. | All detail information is visible and you have the possibility to offer your price for the part. |
11 | The easiest way back to the search results is clicking on the back arrow of the browser „←„. | |
12 | Look for furhter parts with other properties the same way. |
